Leeds Summer Ball tickets competition winner….


Vis Com student Ian Bird was this year’s competition winner.

Despite being extremely jealous i’m sure we can all congratulate Ian on his win.

The competition was open to any student who completed the college’s Equalty & Diversity questionnaire in the Students’ Union area.

There was a total of 180 students who completed the questionnaire all together.

There are still tickets available from your students’ Union office. Thery are for the 8pm coach from Leeds Uni steps and are priced at £42

With two weeks to go, there have been about 5000 tickets sold. It’s goig to be massive.

Leeds Art RAG Week ‘Fundraising Fete’ winners collect their prizes

Here’s Nick collecting his team’s amazing prizes.

Their team who produced origami ducks for a game of ‘Hook-a-duck’ were the unanimous winners of the student vote on the day.

The team raised £18.10 for The British Poppy Appeal

NEW Leeds College of Art Students’ Union Hoodie Design Competition

As the title suggests…

The Students’ Union Executive Committee decided that it was time to make the hoodie design a pen competition.
The rules have been relaxed and we are looking students to take advantage and come up with some truly creative and original designs.
We want you to make the job hard for us.

The Exec will shortlist the best 4, which will then go to a vote decided by students.

The deadline is 12pm Monday June 6th.

We are able to order this year’s hoodies for individual orders.

Leeds College of Art Students’ Union Elections 2011 get underway…

The race to see who will become 2011/2012′s Leeds College of Art Students’ Union team is officially open!

Nominations for all Students’ Union Executive roles are being accepted throughout April with a closing date of April 29th.
Campigning takes place May 3rd ntil the 10th when voting will open until 10pm on the 12th.

Leeds College of Art’s first ever RAG week raises £290 for a number of charities

The inaugural Leeds Art RAG Week held in the second week of March raised £290 through a number of activities in an amazing positive and proactive few days.
From live doodles to a raffle, a party and a fundraising Fete, a number of charities have benefited from the event.

Here’s a breakdown of the money that will be paid to charities in April.

Doodle Day – Monday March 7th in aid of Hyde Park Unity Day [Leeds] [ http://www.unityday.org.uk/ ]
Students and staff were asked to add their own unique drawing or doodle to a large scale piece to kick off the week.
Raised £33.29


RAG Party – Thursday March 10th in aid of Inner Gift [The Netherlands]
The Walkabout bar in Leeds City Centre played host to a chilled night out.
Raised £90*
*£180 alltogether with 50% donated to the charity, 50% to cover RAG Week costs

Artwork Raffle – Friday March 11th in aid of Trees For Cities [UK] [ http://www.treesforcities.org.uk ]
Students and staff were invited to donate work to the raffle. In the end there were 24 submissions and some amazing pieces of work.

Fundraising Fete – Friday March 7th in aid of various charities
Students from all courses were invited to come up with an original and interctive way of raising money for a charity of their choice.
Over 4 hours these stalls were put to the test as students at the Blenheim Walk site spent their cash.
There was a prize for the best stall as voted for by the students themselves.
Congratulations to all students who took part. As you can see below, they raised a lot of money and a lot of effort went in o the day.

Vintage Stall Raised raised £41.61 for St. Gemma’s Hospice Leeds
Hook a duck raised £18.10 for The British Poppy Appeal
Screenprints raised £10.60 for Cancer Research
Hair Braiding raised £17 for the NSPCC
Throwing Bottles at Ball [working title] raised £10.10 for St. Gemma’s Hospice Leeds
Click! Snap! Boom! raised photography £8 for The Samaritans
Blind drawing raised £2 for St. Gemma’s Hospice Leeds

Items were also sold on behalf of Amnesty International.
